Nohaz
i red about the luxor buildings, and I felt the same.
why do we destroy something nice for something ugly. people who don't have history are faking some. but in hour case, we don't give a shit.

I wonder how much of it is actual change and how much of it is nostalgia playing its usual tricks on the mind. Marquez describes this so beautifully in Love in the Time of Cholera: "the heart's memory eliminates the bad and
magnifies the good, and that thanks to this artifice we manage to endure the burden of the past"

My parents left masr in 73 and didn't come back till 87, mesh motakhayela el balad kan akeed shaklaha 7aga tanya khales belnesbalhom. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for them to see that...Ana walhamdulellah I have 2 homes, Masr and Canada, and whenever I'm in one place I'm always longing for the other. It sounds like that's what NY has become to you :)

i think it a combination of both; actual change and the nostalgia playing with my head. or I became a little whiner:)

to your Marquez reference, I think it is on of the best think he wrote.

you know, life is bunch of memories, and anyone with out past, he/ she has no future.

i did not know about the Canada citizenship.

you know, New York is too close to Canada, so come visit:)

lol, yareit mawdoo3 el visit dah, bas sa3b for 2 reasons: awwalan ana kont 2a3da fe vancouver which is on the west coast fa mesh na7yet NY khales, and thaneyan ana ba2aly 16 years 2a3da fe masr mesh canada :) Bas inshallah my plan is to move to NYC in a year or two inshallah. Many people have told me law 3ayza nadafet canada + 3afanet wel chaos beta3 masr, ro7y 3eeshy fe NYC :D

Regarding Marquez, I actually didn't really enjoy love in the time of cholera (ok I admit I didn't finish it aslan), his best for me is 100 years of solitude, even though it took me like 2 years to finish the damn thing, lol!

i don't know who gave you this picture about NY, but I am sure he/ she did not live in the right NY.
NY is great and you will love. I can not wait to welcome you here

Don't worry about Marquez, I never liked him :)

i feel homesick when I leave NY. it is very busy and fast
it has 100 languages, so many religious, and tons of Food:)

I never took the Metro in Cairo to tell you the differences,:) but some metro lines in NY are dirty. it is true.
