Netanyahu meets Obama on 'makeup visit' to boost US-Israeli relations

US President Barack Obama met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today in his first visit to the White House since Israel's bungled raid on the Gaza aid flotilla last month.
The leaders were expected to discuss ways to revive the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks and salvage Israel's faltering relations with Turkey.
The last time the two men met Barack Obama refused even to give a joint photo in what was taken to be a snubb to Netanyahu over his refusal to halt West Bank settlements.

التقى الرئيس الأمريكي، باراك أوباما، رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو اليوم بالبيت الأبيض للمرة الأولى منذ الغارة الإسرائيلية الفاشلة على أسطول المساعدات الذي كان متجها إلى غزة قبل شهر.
وكان من المتوقع أن يناقش القائدان سبل إحياء محادثات السلام الإسرائيلية – الفلسطينية وإنقاذ العلاقات المتعثرة بين إسرائيل وتركيا.
ولقد رفض أوباما، خلال آخر لقاء جمع بين الطرفين، حتى أن تُلتقط له صورة مع رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي، في خطوة اعتُبرت توبيخا لنتنياهو جراء رفضه وقف بناء المستوطنات في الضفة الغربية.
